This historic Grade II listed house and a secluded walled garden. It retains many of the original features throughout, including the front door which dates back to 1719. The building was looking tired from lack of maintenance and application of unsuitable modern masonry paint.
Work carried out
Removal of existing masonry paint from ground floor brickwork using a combination of softeners and a supper-heated steam cleaner (Thermatech). A lime render was applied to the right-hand side brickwork as the condition was deemed too poor to leave exposed. Left-hand brickwork was repointed using a suitable coloured lime mortar. Lime repairs to lathe and plater soffit. Cast iron guttering refurbished. Mineral silicate paint was applied to new lime render and existing cementitious render above. And external joinery was decorated.
